How to Reset Volkswagen TPMS Light

If your Volkswagen tyre pressure warning light has come on, you must first check all tyres are at the correct pressure before attempting a reset. Driving on under-inflated tyres is dangerous and can damage your vehicle.

Reset Type: Dashboard Menu

Most Volkswagen models use a digital menu system to calibrate the sensors.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1

Ensure all tyres are at the correct pressure.

2

Turn on the ignition.

3

Press the 'CAR' button on your infotainment system.

4

Select 'Setup' -> 'Tyres'.

5

Select 'SET' under the 'Tyre Pressure Loss Indicator' section.

6

Confirm the values are correct.

7

The system will update and the warning light should disappear.

Success! The light should now be cleared. If it stays on or flashes, you may have a faulty sensor or a puncture.

Need a TPMS Tool for your Volkswagen?

If the manual reset doesn't work, you may need a TPMS scanner to diagnose a faulty sensor or link new sensors to your vehicle.

Still seeing the warning light?

If you've followed these steps and the light remains on, it could indicate:

  • A slow puncture: One tyre is losing air faster than the others can recalibrate.
  • Dead TPMS battery: Sensors usually last 5-7 years. If your car is older, the battery might be dead.
  • Interference: Some aftermarket electronics or chargers can interfere with wireless TPMS signals.
