How to Reset Toyota TPMS Light

If your tyre pressure warning light is still on after inflating your tyres to the correct pressure, you likely need to reset the system manually.

⚠️ Safety First

Before attempting a reset, always physically check the pressure of all 4 tyres (and the spare) with a gauge. Resetting the light without inflating the tyres is dangerous and defeats the safety purpose of the system.

Method 1: Infotainment Screen

Most common on modern Toyota models (2014+)

  1. Turn the ignition to ON (engine off) or start the engine.
  2. Press the MENU or CAR button on your infotainment system.
  3. Navigate to Vehicle Status or Service & Checks.
  4. Select Tyre Pressure Monitoring or Tyre Pressure Loss Indicator.
  5. Select Store Tyre Pressure or Reset.
  6. Confirm when asked "Do all 4 tyre pressures match the required values?".

Method 2: Physical Button

Common on older models or base trims

  1. Look for a button with the (!) symbol (TPMS icon). This is often located:
    • Inside the glove box
    • To the right/left of the steering wheel
    • Near the gear stick or handbrake
  2. Turn the ignition to ON (do not start engine).
  3. Press and hold factors the TPMS button for 3-5 seconds until the dashboard light blinks or you hear a beep.
  4. Release the button and start the car. The light should turn off.

Method 3: Auto-Learn / Driving

For vehicles with active sensors

Some Toyota vehicles automatically detect new pressures after a short drive.

  1. Inflate all tyres to the correct cold pressure.
  2. Drive the vehicle at speeds above 20 mph (30 km/h) for at least 10-15 minutes.
  3. The system will automatically reset and clear the warning light once it verifies the pressures are stable.
